Blakey's First Time Seeing the President! (And his parents' first time too)

Welcoming a new citizen

Thank goodness!!! Good boy!

Singing the National Anthem

This was where we were first seated... very last row!

Trying to keep from getting sunburned (also he was loaded with baby sun screen)

This is the view we had AFTER the secret service guy came and escorted us to a closer row!! Way closer- we moved up to the section where the people being naturalized and their families were sitting! (And other important people)

W: The president!

These were the people saying the Oath of Citizenship!

Unfortunately, you can hear some nasty protectors screaming in the background as they were being carried away by some policemen and marines... It didn't last the entire ceremony but with a little help from the men in suits (and the crowd)- the protectors were quickly taken away each time one would start yelling. A woman was seated behind me with some kind of pink flag and pink shirt on (no flags or banners were allowed in- but somehow she snuck it in) and she had gotten up at one point and stood on her chair screaming when the president was speaking... So I ripped her flag out of her hands and threw it on the ground 3 times and the other people seated around had pulled her down off of the chair she was standing on. Then, she was carried away :-) People are SOOO RUDE!

  1. Dear Rachel I just wanted you to know that I really enjoy watching little Blake grow. I wish I had gotten to know you better as you grew up. But your little guy sure is a cutie! Just like Mommy (and I'm sure daddy) :-) If you are interested, I blog about my (mostly) grandkids at www.rimgate.blogspot.com Blakey, and Marley and Simon would be second cousins. Love A. Karen
